fuckyeahhistorycrushes: James Ensor was a Belgian artist, interested primarily in expressionism and surrealism (his art is kind of similar to Van Gogh.) He was really into substituting skeletons for his figures, using a bright palette to make it that much more interesting. Dude was a huge grump who hated the establishment (mainly the Belgian Academy because they didn’t ‘get it’) and lived his entire life above his parents’ curiosities shop.
